After showing his film at surf communities up and down the west and east coasts, Thomas Campbell brought things back to where they started with a final showing of The Present at the Patagonia Cardiff store.
This film is now available on DVD so if you haven't had the chance to see it yet, pick up a copy and enjoy.
We conclude with part 4 of the Wood is Good series of videos. This one features some great footage of Dave Rastovich, Dan Malloy and even Mike Stewart! - all riding some variations on Tom Wegners Alaia surfboards.
In part 3 of the Wood is Good series, Tom gets into his work with Alaias. There has been a lot of interest recently in this "ancient" craft and Tom talks about his progression with their design, from belly boards to stand up riding.
Happy Holidays from everybody at Fletcher Chouinard Designs!
Here is part 2 of the Wood is Good videos. Tom goes off in this one and is seen riding his 20 footer. If you're interested in surfboard design and alternative construction materials, you'll really enjoy this series so stay tuned for more.
On Saturday, October 11, 2009, after the Sacred Craft Surfboard Expo, surfboard shaper Tom Wegener gave an evening presentation at Patagonia's Cardiff Surf Shop. Tom spoke about shaping surfboards from Paulownia wood, specifically classic single fin longboards, hollow surfboards and the traditional Hawaiian alaia design which Tom and his friends help reintroduce to the surfing world. Special thanks to Devon Howard for organizing this unique event and to Free at TCl for sharing the goods. Part 1 of 4
