Sammy's Kevlar Puerto Beast

Sammy's Kevlar Puerto Beast

FCD surfboard for surfing Puerto Esondito

Sammy made this board from scratch, using one of our raw blanks which is an undertaking in itself. The entire board is glassed with Kevlar using epoxy which means you can't hit it with the sander - if you do it's ruined. You pretty much only get one chance to nail it but luckily Sammy is a ninja. He made the fins himself, too. If you are in Puerto  and see this board this summer say hi to Sammy, he'll be stoked!

Captain Liz

Captain Liz

Came across this great video of Liz Clark on YouTube. It has a home-movie kind of feel to it, which is refreshing these days. The video gives you a glimpse of what its like to sail your boat to a remote atoll, find a wave, surf it and then do it all over again. Great music too.

Check out our channel on YouTube and tell us what you think of it. Got a cool video with your FCD board? Send it our way!

180 South

180 South

In 1968, Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins set out to surf, ski and climb their way to Patagonia. The wild places they found later motivated them to protect the environment. Inspired by this journey, Jeff Johnson and Woodshed Films set sail on a voyage to South America to climb a mythical peak called Corcovado with Chouindard and Tompkins.

Keep checking The Tinshed for more cool stories and videos.

Encinitas Premiere of The Present

Encinitas Premiere of The Present

Thomas Campbell premiered his new film, The Present, in Encinitas this past weekend. Devon Howard and the crew from Patagonia Cardiff put together this nice wrap up of the evening.

In response to the question of why people come out to the theater to see surf films, Steve Barilotti had a great response - "when you're together, you feel you're part of a family". As surfers, we all share a special thing - so let's remember to be good to each other.

Punisher Point

Punisher Point

barefoot in baja

A quick stop (for rehydration) after an all night drive and throwing a few coins to the roadside shrine to ward off flat tires. Just another ??? miles of Mexico's finest dirt road and you're home free, until you try to get home.

Evan Elder, FCD shop employee on a recent trip to Scorps. Despite flipping a 4 wheeler (and almost getting crushed) he managed to salvage a board to catch a few and make the most of it.
