Claim Your Change

FCD friend, Kyle, wants you to become more conscious of where your money is going. Not the money that you're spending but the money that you're saving in the bank.

A surf trip down to Chile, and a little investigating, helped Kyle to learn that the 6 month CD from his local mega-bank was funding the development of a coal fired power plant. Check out the video and learn what you can do to help.

Rell Sunn Educational Fund Event

Rell Sunn Educational Fund Event

Rell Sunn Educational Fund Event Flyer

Information about a great event, in honor of a beloved member of the Patagonia family.

Please join us this March 28, 2009 for another special screening of the multi-award winning documentary film on the life of Rell Kapolioka'ehukai Sunn, the Queen of Makaha. You'll laugh, cry and be inspired by her amazing journey. Often referred to as the "Queen of Makaha," Rell was the quintessential water-woman, excelling at all watersports, including surfing, bodysurfing, spearfishing, and open-water outrigger canoeing. In the early 70's, Rell was instrumental in establishing the Women's Professional Surfing Association and founding the women's pro surfing tour in which she twice finished third in the year end rankings. Despite all of her accomplishments, Rell Sunn remained a completely humble and unselfish person, and might easily have been called the "Queen of Aloha" for the spirit she carried with her, and the enthusiasm she devoted to every aspect of her life.

180 South

180 South

In 1968, Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins set out to surf, ski and climb their way to Patagonia. The wild places they found later motivated them to protect the environment. Inspired by this journey, Jeff Johnson and Woodshed Films set sail on a voyage to South America to climb a mythical peak called Corcovado with Chouindard and Tompkins.

1% For the Planet Surfboard Auction

1% For the Planet Surfboard Auction

This DM3 surfboard, autographed by Jack Johnson, is being auctioned off by 1% for the Planet

There isn't much of a surf industry without clean oceans to paddle in.  Keep this in mind next time you pull up to your local break and wince at the crowd.  Everybody in the lineup is an "advocate in waiting" for water quality monitoring, the capture and treatment of storm water runoff and the protection of coastlines from man made development.

1% For The Planet is an alliance of businesses that understand the necessity of protecting the natural environment.  All members contribute 1% of net annual sales to grassroots environmental groups that are leading the charge to protect our land and our water.

This month, they're auctioning off a brand new FCD DM3 Surfboard which has been autographed by Jack Johnson.  Bidding closes Wednesday December 17th at 8 pm EST (and this board would make the gift of all holiday gifts for that special person).
