After showing his film at surf communities up and down the west and east coasts, Thomas Campbell brought things back to where they started with a final showing of The Present at the Patagonia Cardiff store.
This film is now available on DVD so if you haven't had the chance to see it yet, pick up a copy and enjoy.
Sammy made this board from scratch, using one of our raw blanks which is an undertaking in itself. The entire board is glassed with Kevlar using epoxy which means you can't hit it with the sander - if you do it's ruined. You pretty much only get one chance to nail it but luckily Sammy is a ninja. He made the fins himself, too. If you are in Puerto and see this board this summer say hi to Sammy, he'll be stoked!

I picked up a BT longboard from you last summer, and it's been a great addition to my surf experiences (it's been all over California with me, and even made it to El Salvador with me last fall). Last weekend, as I was getting changed after my session at the Huntington Beach Pier, I had placed my board on the ground behind my van in the parking lot. Although there were many available parking spots, some guy decided he wanted to park right next to me, and drove right over the nose of my board (in a 3/4 ton Dodge pickup no less).
I've always thought that one of the coolest things about surfing is that there are so many different ways to do it. No two waves are the same and, until recently, no two boards were the same. You can surf the same spot everyday and have a completely different experience every time. Switch boards and it feels like a totally different sport.
With handmade surfboards you never get the same thing twice. They’re impossible to duplicate. There’s a risk you could get a lemon, but there’s also a chance you could get one that’s pure magic. That magic is the feeling when you pick up a board and it just feels right. You plant your feet in the right spot without thinking about it and the board goes where you want it to on the wave – like an extension of your body.
The glass shop post paint job. Some of you may remember the pink walls from previous shots, that was actually a color used in insane asylums to keep patients calm. I have no idea why anyone thought that would be necessary. Stru and Robin bring a few freshies to life, sick style with the silver suit Stru!
